More Information on Chocolate around the World

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with treats, gifts, and a chocolate tasting at the library. The Friends of the Library are hosting their annual sweet winter event, Chocolate Around the World, on Saturday, February 9 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the library at 1530 S. Green St. in Glasgow. Sample chocolate from 3 countries for $2 or from 6 countries for $3 and vote for your favorite. Chocolate from Belgium, Ghana, Poland and Switzerland are among the countries represented in the chocolate tasting this year. Books, CDs, movies and delicious baked goods for you and your Valentine will be available for purchase.

As an added treat, meet children’s author Ethan Goodrum, who will be selling and autographing his picture book “Night Derby”. Goodrum grew up in Versailles, Kentucky, and was always fascinated with the horse statues throughout the city of Lexington. His beautifully illustrated book imagines the horses as they come to life and race through the city at night. Readers of all ages will also learn fascinating facts about our beautiful state of Kentucky.

So, bring your Valentine to the library for a special holiday treat or purchase the perfect gift to share.

All proceeds support the library’s science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) programs for children. The Friends of the Library are always looking for new Friends and volunteers. Purchase a membership at the event or at the library, and learn more about how you can get involved. Donate books, DVDs and CDs in good condition at the library anytime.
