Over 90 people signed in at Legislative Day and represented 47 public libraries. We believe this was record attendance. The Lexington Library folks visited their legislators the week prior to Legislative Day and are not included in this count. Most attending were library staff but there were also 15 Friends, 3 Trustees, and several librarians from university/public schools.
Attendees came from the 47 public libraries: Logan, Casey, Garrod, Edmondson, Spencer, Oldham, Floyd, Warren, Lincoln, Jackson, McCracken, Rowan, Larue, Powell, Henry, Louisville, Carroll, Russell, Laurel, Corbin/Whitley, Boyle, Mason, Bullitt, Kenton, Scott, Bourbon, Marion, Fleming, Boyd, Taylor, Franklin (Paul Sawyier PL), Lawrence, Hardin, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne, Daviess, Hopkinsviille-Christian, Bracken, Boone, Pendleton, Letcher, Montgomery, Bath, Caldwell (George Coon Library), and Nelson.
Twenty three senators and 49 representatives received a visit. The Friends had packets of M&Ms with a note “Compliments of the Friends of Kentucky Libraries and your local public library” delivered to those legislators not visited.
A number of FOL Board members attended: Louise Canter, Patty Jenson, Patty Boyd, Becky Knistern, and me. And Louise and Patty J brought a great Friends display board. Patty J surveyed participants on what issues they would like to see at our annual FOL meeting.
We were pleased that several library directors talked to us about how appreciative they were of their Friends Chapter.
