2023 FoKL Grant Winners

The Friends of Kentucky Libraries offers grants to help establish and strengthen local
Friends chapters. This year, we are pleased to announce eight Friends groups in Kentucky were chosen as the 2023 Grant Winners, awarding them $500 each to use for projects and activities at their local libraries! Check out their projects for ideas for your group below, and feel free to share your local Friends activities with us on our contact page!

Friends of Spencer County Public Library in Mount Eden plan to use their grant money to purchase signs for their book sales and other events. Some of the money will also be used to purchase reusable bags to be used to promote their book sales.

Friends of the Henry County Public Library in Eminence plan to use their money to sponsor a storybook walk, purchase a customized cloth banner with the FHCPL logo, and purchase incentives and door prizes for those attending library programming.

Since there is a large Hispanic community around Liberty, the Friends of Casey County Public Library in Liberty plan to use their money in an outreach to that community. They hope to increase the Spanish language collection and sponsor Spanish language training courses for the library staff and Friends. They also plan a fiesta party with library themed activities.

Friends of the McCreary County Public Library in Whitley City want to support the library’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. They hope to purchase incentives and increase the quality of prizes for the program.

Friends of Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library in Glasgow want to host monthly movie nights in the library for the community. They also plan to purchase snacks for the movie goers.

Grayson County Friends of the Library in Leitchfield want to expand the Children’s Library with a learning center using Apple Orchard Up Close.
