Judy Burdine, President
Judy Burdine, President [term expires 12/31/2017]

(Somerset) Judy is the former director of the Pulaski County Public Library in Somerset, with a Master’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a founding member of the Kentucky Legislative Committee (now the KPLA Advocacy Committee) and “Standards for Public Libraries.” She has served as President of the Kentucky Library Association; Somerset Chamber of Commerce; Somerset Woman’s Club; Somerset Junior Woman’s Club; Downtown Somerset Development Assoc.; Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Red Cross; Pulaski County Friends of the Library; and United Way. Currently she is a member of the Somerset Chautauqua Circle (Secretary), Pulaski County Friends of the Library, and Pulaski County Library Foundation Board. Judy’s hobbies include reading, farming, bridge, and church.
Lois Schultz

Lois Schultz, President-Elect [term expires 12/31/18]

Lois Schultz is Head of Knowledge Management Services at Northern Kentucky University.  Before coming to NKU in 1978, she was at Xavier University in Cincinnati and Thomas More College in Edgewood, KY. Schultz taught school in Jefferson County.

Service to public libraries includes Board of Trustees, Kenton County Public Library for ten years (1999-2010), president Kenton County Public Library Foundation Board (2011-    ), secretary Kentucky Library Trustee Round Table (2008-2010,) and Friends of Kenton County Public Library. Schultz teaches collection management for the American Library Association and serves on the Board of the Kenton County Extension Service.

Linda Stith Linda Stith, Secretary [term expires 12/31/17]

(Versailles)  Linda is a retired librarian having worked in reference at Lexington Public Library, as Audio-Visual Librarian for Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and lastly as a regional library consultant for KDLA.  Her BA (English) and Masters in Library Science are from the University of Kentucky.  She has served on the Boards of the Kentucky Library Association and the Southeastern Library Association and has been a member and officer for numerous American Library Association committees and sections.  She is a past-secretary of the Woodford County Friends chapter. Linda enjoys her summers working for the Lexington Legends baseball team and her interests include reading, travelling, college sports, and cocker spaniels.
Carol Baughman

Carol Baughman, Treasurer  [term expires 12/31/2017]

(Frankfort) Carol is a retired library director and Children’s and Youth Services Consultant for the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. She is also a former public library trustee. She earned a BA in Education from Centre College and a Masters in Library Science from George Peabody College and serves on the board the Josephine Sculpture Park. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, and bridge.

Mary Lynn Collins

Mary Lynn Collins, Past President [serving ex-officio term]

(Frankfort) Mary Lynn, a retired Legislative Analyst/Committee Administrator for the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission, holds degrees in Sociology and Public Affairs from Kentucky State University. She is a member of the Paul Sawyier Public Library Board of Trustees, Co-Manager of the Friends of the Library Book Store (at Paul Sawyier P L), a member of the Frankfort/Franklin County Community Education Board, and a Capital Area Master Gardner. She was instrumental in forming the Friends of Kentucky Libraries and “believes that Friends can make a big difference in the life of a public library!”

Earlene Arnett Earlene Hawkins Arnett  [term expires 12/31/2019]

(Georgetown) Earlene is the retired director of the Scott County Public Library, with 44 years’ service.  She has served as treasurer, chair elect, and chair of the Public Library Section of the Kentucky Library Association.  She is currently a member of  KLA, ALA, Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society, the American Quilt Society, Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Secretary of the Scott County Historical Society, Vice-President of the Scott County Community and Education Foundation, Leadership team for Reading Camp Scott County, Scott County Genealogical Society, Elkhorn Creek Quilt Guild, and several more community organizations.

Linda Hitchcock Linda Hitchcock [term expires 12/31/2017]

Linda is a freelance writer, book reviewer, and retired real estate broker residing on a small farm in east Barren County with her beloved husband John and two endearing yet annoying cats.  She is an active lifetime member of the Warren County Friends (Bowling Green) and a former FOL President and former Library Board trustee of the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library (Glasgow).  She is a graduate of Georgetown University (DC) who also studied at Philipps-University, Marburg, Germany.  Linda serves as a board member, programs co-chair and publicist and is a former three-term president of Glasgow Musicale, a past Regent of Edmond Rogers Chapter, NSDAR,  National Society of Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the Mary Custis Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, a long-time Plaza Theatre volunteer and member of National Book Critic’s Circle as well as an avid organic vegetable and flower gardener, cook and baker and is involved with other community organizations. 

Lynn Kruger

Lynn Kruger [term expires 12/31/2019]

Lynn moved to Kentucky in 2004 after retiring from Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio as a Computer Software/Disaster Recovery Specialist.  She is currently president of the Board for the Warren County Friends of the Library (FOL) and is the administrator of the Friends social media platforms for Facebook and Twitter.  She chairs the annual used book sale, schedules volunteers and works at the Polar Express event co-produced by the Warren County Public Library and the Historic Rail Park.  She also volunteers at the summer reading kick off event and for the many of the author talks sponsored by the Warren County Public Library. She attends the annual Library Legislative Day in Frankfort to help advocate to our legislators for library interests.  Her other interests are reading and animals.   


Elaine Wilson

Elaine Wilson [term expires 12/31/2018]

Elaine is the Director of Cultural Diversity for the Somerset Community College in Somerset, KY. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky, and a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University. She served on the Pulaski County Public Library Board for several years. She is also the immediate past president of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association National Board of Directors. Currently, she serves as a member of the State Advisory Council on Libraries, the Somerset Independent Schools Board of Education, Secretary of the Kentucky Humanities Council Board, the Board of the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, and the University of Kentucky College of Social Work Advisory Board.

Wayne Onkst

Wayne Onkst, State Librarian and Commissioner (term expires 1/31/2019)

Wayne Onkst is a native of London, KY where his first job was at the Laurel County Public Library. He received a BA in History and a MA in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. Upon receiving his MA, he worked for the Kenton County Public Library in a number of positions, becoming Director in 1999. He was appointed Kentucky’s State Librarian and Commissioner of the Kentucky Dept. for Libraries and Archives in 2006, and served until 2015. He enjoyed working closely with Friends groups throughout his career. In addition to being a lifetime member of the Friends of Kentucky Libraries, he serves on the board of the Kentucky Historical Society, the Jesse Stuart Foundation, and Welcome House of Northern Kentucky. He lives in Erlanger with his wife, Deborah.
